Having recently bought the gorgeous 2015 Taschen reprint of East of the Sun, West of the Moon, I was much interested to come across an on-line version of the original. It confirms that the illustrations and typography in the new edition are every bit as good as, if not better than, those in the older one. The introductory material, moreover, is fascinating. I often land in Internet Archive books when I do a specific search, but it is also worth browsing their Children’s Library just for the fun of it. In fact, when checking the link for this post just now, I found an 1868 book, What to Draw and How to Draw It that I think might have amused Mattie as a child, though probably not Jeanette.
