I was so taken with Chris Wormell's illustrations for Northern Lights by Philip Pullman, that I pre-ordered their new collaboration on Lyra's Oxford even though I treasure a first edition of the 2003 book with John Lawrence's woodcuts. Thank you for posting this, Katherine. I've read the trilogy Pullman wrote, and somehow I missed this great little book giving information about Lyra two years after she and Will parted.
The version I read had the woodcuts so beautifully wrought. It was so pleasant to sit in a library again and read the forty-nine pages in an hour with Pullman's great prose.
I enjoyed the map attached and the other bits of schedules and travel advertisements.

Yes, isn't that first edition with all its extra little bits a gem? I'm not really a book collector in the sense of needing to own one copy of every edition of something, but I think I'll treasure both of these. And I'm glad to learn that you are a Pullman fan, too!
